These Terms of Use explain the basic rules for using TanksConnected. By using the site, creating an account, posting content, using chat, sending messages, or submitting reports, you agree to follow these terms and the linked policies.

1. About TanksConnected

TanksConnected is an aquarium management and fishkeeping community site. It may include tank profiles, stocking tools, maintenance logs, species information, forums, chat, private messages, uploads, reports, and other related features.

2. Your account

• You are responsible for your account and anything done through it.
• You must keep your login details secure.
• You must provide accurate account information where required.
• You must not create accounts to bypass restrictions, mutes, bans, blocks, or moderation action.
• Some features may require email verification or minimum account age.

3. Acceptable use

You must use TanksConnected in good faith and follow the Acceptable Use Policy, Community Rules, Chat Rules, and Reporting & Moderation Policy.

4. User content

You are responsible for content you submit, upload, post, send, or display on TanksConnected. You must only submit content that you have the right to use and that follows site rules. More detail is available in the User Content Policy.

5. Aquarium advice and information

TanksConnected may provide aquarium-related tools, calculations, species information, water-change guidance, stocking estimates, and community advice. This information is for general hobby guidance only. You are responsible for checking information, using your judgement, and caring for your animals properly.

TanksConnected cannot guarantee that all user-submitted information, stocking estimates, compatibility suggestions, or advice will be accurate, complete, or suitable for every tank.

6. Chat and messages

Chat and private messaging features must be used safely and respectfully. Chat access may be limited, paused, or removed where needed. Private messages are not actively monitored by default, but may be reviewed if reported, flagged, or needed for safety, security, abuse prevention, moderation, or legal reasons.

7. Reports and moderation

TanksConnected may remove content, restrict features, pause chat access, close accounts, or take other reasonable action to protect users, animals, the community, and the site. Reports should be made in good faith. False or abusive reports may lead to moderation action.

8. Availability and changes

TanksConnected may change, suspend, limit, or remove features at any time, especially during public beta. The site may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, technical issues, hosting issues, or security work.

9. Security

You must not attempt to access systems, accounts, data, or features you are not authorised to use. You must not attack, overload, scrape, probe, exploit, or interfere with TanksConnected or its services.

10. Liability

TanksConnected is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent allowed by law, TanksConnected is not responsible for losses caused by use of the site, reliance on user content, incorrect aquarium decisions, technical issues, unavailable features, or content submitted by other users.

11. Closing or restricting accounts

TanksConnected may restrict or close accounts that break rules, create safety risks, abuse site features, attempt to bypass moderation, or harm the site or its users.
