Community Rules

TanksConnected is built for fishkeepers to share tanks, ask questions, compare setups, and enjoy the aquarium hobby. These rules apply across the site, including forums, profiles, comments, chat, private messages, photos, and user-submitted content.

1. Be respectful

• Treat other users with basic decency.
• No harassment, bullying, threats, intimidation, or targeted abuse.
• No hate speech, slurs, discrimination, or hostile behaviour toward personal or protected characteristics.
• No deliberately provoking, baiting, or disrupting other users.

2. Keep it hobby-friendly

• Keep posts and chat broadly relevant to aquariums, fishkeeping, plants, equipment, water care, and related community topics.
• Off-topic chat is allowed in moderation, but do not derail discussions or spam.
• Advice should be given in good faith. If you are unsure, say so.

3. No unsafe or harmful content

• No scams, phishing, malware, suspicious links, or attempts to trick users.
• No encouragement of animal cruelty, deliberate neglect, or harmful fishkeeping practices.
• No instructions intended to damage the site, bypass security, or abuse other users.
• No adult, sexual, graphic, or otherwise inappropriate content.

4. Protect personal information

Do not post private personal information about yourself or others. This includes addresses, phone numbers, passwords, payment information, school or workplace locations, private contact details, or anything that could put someone at risk.

5. No impersonation

Do not impersonate other users, moderators, staff, bots, site services, companies, or public figures. Usernames, profile details, and chat names must not be used to mislead people.

6. Photos and uploaded content

Only upload or submit content you have the right to use. Do not upload illegal, abusive, explicit, stolen, misleading, or privacy-invasive content. For more detail, see the User Content Policy.

7. Reports and moderation

If something breaks the rules, use the report tools where available. TanksConnected may remove content, restrict features, pause chat access, or take other action where needed. See the Reporting & Moderation Policy.

8. Good faith use

Do not abuse reports, blocks, private messages, chat, forums, or account features. Repeated bad-faith behaviour may lead to restrictions even if each single action looks minor by itself.
