Native range
North-eastern Brazil, in coastal river drainages.
Natural habitat
Small social loricariid for mature aquaria with fine sand, smooth stones, wood and abundant biofilm. Clean, oxygen-rich water and established grazing surfaces are important.
Diet & feeding
Grazes biofilm, algae and associated microorganisms. Supplement with quality vegetable/algae wafers, soft vegetables and small protein foods; newly set-up sterile tanks are unsuitable.
